In addition to our work in developing countries helping people to start using clean, free and safe renewable energy, illumination also aims to contribute to communities in which we work in other ways. This often involves helping NGOs and other organisations to carry-out their amazing work.
One of the NGOs that we support is the School of St Jude in Tanzania. St Jude’s provides a free quality education to approximately 1,500 of the poorest children of Arusha, Tanzania, and boarding for over 900 students. Additionally, the school provides employment to over 340 Tanzanians.
Our support includes sponsorship of a boarding room at the school. Boarding room “Simba B” provides a home away from home for seven students, and this year the students in room are:
• Violet John Nanyaro
• Arafa Adam Gedamara
• Anastazia Joseph Mroso
• Fatuma Rajabu Naftali
• Holylight Wilfred Issangya
• Jackline Mathew Kisoka
• Warida Hashimu Msongo
This year they are in Form 2 and are around 18 years old, and everyone here at illumination wishes them all the best for the school year ahead!
